Hola!

Myk Edrich, Aspiring Writer

I'm MyKaela Edrich and I am an aspiring writer, graphic designer, and all-around creative individual.

I like reading books before seeing their film adaptations in the theatres. In fact, I read a lot... which may surprise my early grade school teachers since I had a slight reading problem when I was little.

You could say I come by reading and writing naturally.

My dad is an avid reader. He reads anything he can get his hands on about World War II and he reads lots of science-fiction stuff. And my mom is a paid freelance writer and the owner of an eMagazine for busy parents.

Before my Nana died, she spent many hours writing poetry to pass the time, and my grandma Val still handwrites letters to family and friends. Heck, even my Papa reads. He spends hours reading mystery novels, and things that make his brain work harder.

Guitar Playing

I had my first story published in "911: The Day America Cried" when I was just 7 years old and I wrote my first song at the age of 14 for a friend of the family's wedding.

Today I spend my days writing fan fiction, practicing my guitar skills, watching Jeff Dunham and reruns of "Harry Potter", learning to speak Na'vi, and trying to stay out of trouble.

Seven Year Old Gets Published In Anthology

911: The Day America Cried

Merrill, WI elementary student, MyKaela Edrich has not forgotten the tragedy that befell America on September 11, 2001- It's a day none of us will ever forget. While our nation mourned a great loss, our children were held captive in a fear we hoped they would never have to feel. Nearly a year later, MyKaela Edrich still remembers the day the plane crashed near her previous home of Indiana, Pennsylvania. When she heard that others were putting together a book to share their experiences, she decided to share her story. She wrote of her fears, and her anguish, but also of a truth that only a seven year old could tell.

MyKaela's short story has been published in an anthology of other works written to commemorate the September 11 tragedy and heal the pain. Myk held her very first book signing on Sept. 13, at a coffee shop in her hometown and sold four books.

MyKaela says she is proud to be a part of the anthology. This book-and what it will do to help others-is just one more example of Americans working together to overcome adversity and unite in a common cause.
